What kind of robots would be useful for people with disabilities?
With Japan's aging population, robots are becoming more and more common in our daily lives.

Let's explore the topic of "robots" and "people with disabilities,"
something we may not always think about, with other group members.

Inspirational talk speakers are Takayuki Furuta, General Manager of Future Robotic Technology Center (fuRo), Chiba Institute of Technology, who developed CanguRo, a robotics and AI fusion device, and Takeshi Nakamura, Founder of Raise the Flag Inc., who has developed several assistive devices for the visually impaired, including SYN+, a sensory device that replaces sight.

This event is open to everyone, including those with no knowledge
or experience of robots or people with disabilities.

Come join us for a fun and engaging discussion!

Inspiration Talk Guest Speaker and Members of the Judging Panel

Takayuki Furuta

Ph.D.
General Manager of Future Robotic Technology Center (fuRo), Chiba Institute of Technology

Takayuki Furuta, has been a Standing Director at the Chiba Institute of Technology since 2014 and General Manager at the Future Robotics Technology Center (fuRo) since 2003. He led the Robot Research Group for the Kitano Symbiotic Systems Project from 1998 to 2003. He developed a crawler robot for the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station disaster, contributing significantly to the mission's success. His accomplishments include various robots for nuclear disasters and the Halluc-II transformable vehicle.

Takeshi Nakamura

Founder of Raise the Flag Inc.

Takeshi funded Raise the Flag Inc. in 2017 and is in charge of business and product design at the company. He was shocked into awareness when he once heard a young girl who is blind say, "Things I cannot see are just inconvenient, not unfortunate." He thought, "If it's only 'inconvenient,' I can solve it!" and decided to create a future where that girl doesn't have any problems. He vowed, "I will not forget this day and make it happen!" This journal entry he scribbled about four years ago was the starting point for everything.

Today, he feels he's finally within reach of that goal and is determined to keep running until he sees the girl's full smile!

LIVES Project Mission

To create an inclusive society where the individuality of each person shines
and everyone is empowered to WORK, EAT and LAUGH together.

Working every day, eating every day, and laughing every day, should be a part of our daily lives.
However, there are those who cannot do what we could consider as our daily activities.

Japan continues to be a difficult environment for those with disabilities to join the workforce and be a part of the community.

How difficult it is for people with mental, intellectual and physical challenges to live like others in our current society!
