Short-Term Programs with exchange Universities

Below you'll find a list of short-term programs offered by Universities we have exchange agreements with. The way that these programs work is that the host university will charge you for the cost of the program; what's included in that cost might vary by program, so please look at their websites carefully. Hamline charges a fee for students to do these programs; here is what that fee costs.

You'll need to fill out our Hamline application first, before applying with the host university. Some of these programs require a nomination from our University. Please make sure you fill out our application well before the host university's deadline.

Africa

AUC (the American University in Cairo) (in Egypt)

summer session

AUC offers various credit-bearing courses in the Summer that Hamline students can take. The courses are typically taught in English and can include foundational subjects that get completely filled during the academic year. Some of the courses will be on topics related to the Middle East. The summer Session includes a six-week period and sometimes two accelerated three-week periods. The maximum credit load for the summer is six credit hours (two classes). Asia

konkuk university (ku) (in south korea)

Konkuk University offers two different summer programs. Summer 1 is in July, from around July 1-25, about 22 days long. This program focuses on 3-credit liberal-arts and major courses. Summer 2 is in August, from around August 3-21, about 17 days long. It has two different focuses that students can choose from: Track A focuses on the Korean language & Culture, while Track B is an intensive program focused on learning Korean. kwansei gakuin university (kgu) (in japan)

Intensive Japanese Language and Culture Study Program Summer

This is a three-week-long program offered by KGU in the summer & winter (Hamline students can only go on the summer program). This program focuses on learning the Japanese language & culture of Japan. They have three levels of classes that teach Japanese: beginner, elementary, and intermediate.

KGU summer School

The summer school is a joint program run by KGU and specific partner universities. The program is 5 weeks long; it typically runs from June to July and focuses on East Asian studies. Classes will be taught by KGU professors and visiting professors from institutions that KGU is partnered with. Students will choose one course from each group to take, one from group A & one from group B.

Nagasaki University offers a summer program in which students will learn the Japanese language and take classes on Japanese culture. This program usually runs from mid-July to August.

university of trier (in germany)

The University of Trier offers a German intensive language program in which students will learn the German language; they teach beginner levels A1 and A2 and intermediate levels B1 and B2. They also have more academic lectures during the program about Europe, such as history, economics, etc.

University of York (in UK)

summer school

The University of York offers a summer school program that lasts about two weeks. The way it is structured is with talks from some of their top academics, then students will further explore the topic with analysis, debate & discussion. At the end of the project, students will develop a poster presentation.
