Band Karate is the process through which students will demonstrate mastery of skills on their instrument. Each belt of band karate represents a specific skill or skills needed to improve on their instrument and in turn play more difficult music. Students are required to pass a minimum of 2 belts per quarter. Band karate is part of the students summative grade in band which makes up 80% of their grade.

1. All band karate will be submitted as videos through google classroom. They will be attached to the specific assignment for that belt.

2. Belts must be passed in order

3. Students must receive an 80% or better to pass the belt. Students will be graded on correct notes, rhythms, articulations, dynamics, and tone.

4. This is required for all band students (summative assessment)

5. Be sure to read the directions column on the band karate sheet.

All band karate due dates for the year are listed to the left. Keep these handy so you are not surprised by one :-)
