The Architecture and Construction program involves occupational careers in the designing, planning, management, building and maintaining the built environment, and in performing routing service work and related duties on utility systems. This Youth Apprenticeship program focuses on three pathway areas:
Construction
Design/Pre-Construction
Utilities
Careers ranging from architecture to welding are found within this cluster.
Students can choose from three occupational areas with options to specific pathways.
Students will build basic skills in reading blueprints, plans, and specifications, interpreting symbols and procedures, identifying and executing job prep needs, and selecting tools and materials. There are six areas to choose from:
Carpentry Fundamentals
Electrical Fundamentals
Heavy Equipment Operator and Operating Engineer
Masonry/Concrete Fundamentals
Mechanical/HVAC Fundamentals
Plumbing/Sprinkler Fitting Fundamentals
Students who work in the Design/Pre-Construction pathway turn a concept into a set of plans, which guide other construction professionals as they continue the building process. There is one area to choose from:
Architecture Drafting and Planning
Careers in utilities pathways vary from performing routing service work and related duties on utility systems to assisting and providing support in the installation, repair and maintenance of a natural gas distribution system. There are two areas to choose from:
Gas Distribution Technician
Utilities Field Technician
