AVID 2025-26

In the 2025-26 school year, HHS expanded the AVID program by growing from one elective section to three! Last year's AVID 10 students are now in AVID 11, and we welcomed new cohorts for AVID 9 and AVID 10.

Below, you'll find information about events, guest speakers, and field trips for AVID 9, 10, and 11 students from this school year. Some schoolwide AVID-sponosored events are featured as well.

AVID End of Year Celebartion & Team Building!

On June 5, students from AVID 9, 10, and 11 got together for some team building games to celebrate the end of the school year!

AVID 9 Carroll University Campus Tour

Students in AVID 9 went to Carroll University in Waukesha for a campus tour and informational session. As an added bonus, Hamilton alum Jadin was one of our tour guides!

Students in AVID 10 completed a donation drive and volunteered for the Ronald McDonald House!

Students in AVID 10 took a campus tour at UW-Milwaukee and heard from a student panel in the beginning of May!

Career Day 2026

The HHS staff worked together to bring a variety of professionals in as guest speakers to share about their professional background and career. Students were able to attend two different sessions.

The AVID and NHS Semester 1 Study-a-Thon was a great success! Students enjoyed the time to collaborate and study almost as much as they enjoyed the snacks!

AVID 10 students heard from a guest speaker from UW-Milwaukee. The speaker stayed to participate in several rounds of Philosophical Chairs with AVID students about various topics.

An instructor from UW-Milwaukee who teaches business and technical writing courses joined AVID students for a guest lecture.

Philosophical Chairs

Topics of discussion included the impact of phones on students' lives, the statistical decline in student reading volume, the Millgram experiment, and self defense.

We had a blast at our second annual AVID holiday party and Secret Santa gift exchange during advisement!

AVID 9 Service Project with Sussex Outreach Services

In December, AVID 9 students volunteered with Sussex Outreach Services, supporting the community through food donations and hands-on service. Students helped organize, clean, and put food away while learning the importance of service and giving back. This experience reinforced responsibility, teamwork, and community connection.
