PHS A+ School

The A+ Schools Program is managed by the Missouri Department of Higher Education and the funds are appropriated annually by the State of Missouri legislators. Students who successfully meet the program's requirements are eligible for scholarship funds to participating public community colleges or vocational schools. Penney High's program is locally controlled by the high school principal, A+ Coordinator, and Board of Education. The policies that govern this program may be found by clicking on key words in each requirement below.

Be a United States citizen or permanent resident

Sign an A+ School Agreement which can be obtained from the A+ Coordinator, Traci Schieber

Attend a designated A+ School for three consecutive years

Graduate from high school with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale

Keep a 95% attendance average for the four-years of high school

Perform 50 hours of unpaid tutoring

Maintain a record of good citizenship and avoid the unlawful use of drugs

Complete and file a FAFSA the student's senior year

Enroll in the Selective Services when appropriate

Score proficient or advanced on the official Algebra I EOC or an equivalent score on MDHE approved tests.

Several four-year universities also offer scholarships to students completing the A+ requirements. Check with your university's financial aid office for details.
