Homework is not assigned as a punishment. Homework is planned to extend and reinforce the daily learning experience by providing reinforcing independence, practice, OR finishing the current day's lesson, or to serve as an introduction for the next day's lesson (homework in the JEDI classroom will only be assigned on Tuesdays and Thursdays as a general rule).
Homework should also help develop the pupil's responsibility and provide an opportunity for the exercise of independent work and judgment. Every students are expected to record every homework assignment in their assignment pad every day. Not all assignments are reflected in the OnCourse homework calendar or Google Classroom as plans often change depending on the needs of the class that day or the needs of your student.
Students will make up missed work - in order to attain the skill

Absent - the same amount of days to make up missed work
All work must be ready to go at the start of class.
See my Home page and https://hamburgschool.com/handbook/
Students that are absent from school for any reason are responsible for the completion of assignments missed because of their absence. Students that are absent receive the same amount of days they were out to make up missed work. EXCEPTION: Any standing/expected assignments (such as weekly Vocabulary Unit) or any other Long-Term assignments such as a project or essay that they have been given several days to complete, will be due on the day they return to school.
Considerable points deducted for late work

Barring all-out emergencies, here is the ’s our guidelines:
Choose an appropriate time:
Students should try to utilize the bathroom as they switch between classes ( we will allow 2-minute window after the tardy bell. If they make it back during that 2 minute window, they will not be counted as late).
Students may use the bathroom only when the teacher is not directly instructing.
Students must sign out & in every time they leave the classroom (for anything) and take a pass.
Sign out (date, name, time, destination i.e., RR, or restroom). Check the sign-out sheet to make sure nobody else is currently signed out (only one student for Boy's and one students for Girl's at a time).
Grab a sticky note and write the time on it and place on your empty desk.
Go immediately to your destination, and come right back.
Sign back in by writing the time on sign in/out sheet. Return quietly to your seat or workspace.
As the procedure is not abused, it will remain the classroom policy.

School-age children (ages 6 to 12) need healthy foods and nutritious snacks. They have a consistent but slow rate of growth and usually eat 4 to 5 times a day (including snacks). Once they have their first meal, depending on its content and balance, it’s recommended to have each subsequent meal every three to four hours to prevent dips in blood sugar levels (which can lead to feeling hangry). Meals should include a protein-rich food, high-fiber starches, vegetables, fruits, and fat. Our quick 10-minute snack usually takes place from 1:30 to 2:15.
· Students may drink bottled of water in the classroom only (it may not be on their desk near a Chromebook). If a
spill occurs, I ask that they clean it up immediately and inform the teacher.
· No other food or beverage is permitted unless it is a designated snack time (doctor’s notes are managed through
the Health Office). In the event a snack break is given, please only bring foods that are peanut/tree nut free in order
to maintain an allergy-friendly environment.
