New Attendance Zones

As elementary school enrollments at some of our schools continue to rise, the superintendent will propose adjustments to attendance boundaries to optimize space usage in the Hall County School District. If approved by your school board, the adjustments will go into effect this June for the 2024-2025 school year.

The current proposal would reassign 118 students currently attending Oakwood Elementary School to Martin Elementary School based upon the location of their home address.  Individuals who live in the area that is impacted will be receiving a letter soon.  The letters will be in a sealed envelope and sent home in your child’s bookbag.  Digital copies of the letter will also be sent to the identified families via Infinite Campus Messenger.  In the letter are guidelines that will allow your student to continue attending Oakwood Elementary School in 2024-2025, if you desire.

Two public hearings are scheduled for March to address the proposed changes. The first meeting will take place on March 11, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the West Hall High School Performing Arts Center. The second meeting will be held on March 25, 2024, at 6:00 PM in the East Hall High School Performing Arts Center. The Hall County Board of Education welcomes the public to attend these sessions and provide input on the proposed plans. If you're unable to attend either meeting, you may submit written comments to Stan Lewis, Director of Communications, Hall County Schools, at 711 Green Street, Gainesville, GA, 30501, or email them to stan.lewis@hallco.org.

Please take time to read over the attached information for all Oakwood Parents.  If you are a parent who receives a letter identifying your address as being located in the impacted area, please review the document in its entirety.  If you have any questions, please contact the school at (770) 532-1656.
