Being part of the West Hall Fine Arts community is one of the many things I am proud of doing as an alumni at West Hall. Although I may be timid at times I am creating things at a large scale. I like inspiring others through my art to not be afraid of playing or experimenting with materials or mediums. I am also an active member in Student Council, Beta Club, National Arts Honor Society and SkillsUSA. In Beta Club I helped create Valentine Cards for a fundraiser and attended the 2019-2020 Beta Convention where I put my artwork on display for judges. I also helped create cancer awareness and Homecoming posters with members to display throughout the school hallways. For the National Arts Honor Society I and along with many other members helped first graders tie dye shirts and create a wall mural.
Now, as a senior, it is a bittersweet feeling that my time at West Hall has been cut short but I am grateful that I was a part of the art community in West Hall. Throughout my four years of taking art classes I have not only learned new techniques and ways to manipulate material but I have also changed as a person. When in the process of creating new art I am always overthinking on what my next move should be and the reason for this is because I am afraid of ruining my piece. Now I have learned to overcome that fear and to be accepting of my mistakes. I've also noticed that my art mistakes actually help me grow as an artist because now I have to choose where to go with the “mistake” I created. This has helped to be less afraid of the unknown or unexpected and to make the most of it as well.

Within the West Hall High School community, I participate in many activities in order to have an influence in every part of the school in some way. I am a Full Diploma International Baccalaureate student where I participate in the IB Visual Art Program. I am also involved in multiple extracurriculars. I am currently the Vice President of Student Council, the Parliamentarian of National Honors Society, a member of the Spanish National Honors Society, and a member of SkillsUSA. Through these extracurriculars, I have helped the Band and Yearbook fundraise during football games. Other than school, I am a Team Leader at my local Chick-fil-a.
As a member of the class of 2020, I have discovered new artistic techniques and new personal attributes as well. I have participated in the art program throughout my total four years in highschool. I wanted to begin in 8th grade as a highschool art student since the class was offered, but I was not able to take the class. As a growing artist in the 9th to 10th grade, helped me develop ideas between shading and working with three dimensional artworks, such as foam and newspaper sculptures. Within the 11th to 12th grade, I was able to focus more on the principles of art by finding an aesthetic and balance within my artworks while I was also able to focus on the creation of movies and short films in an Audio and Video class since the 10th grade, which are available to watch in my e-portfolio.
In the class, I was able to explore angle and sound techniques that helped me advance in my technological skills to help film the school news. This allowed me to become more involved in school activities. As a result, I have been more comfortable in front of cameras and have become more open to talk to students in the school.

My name is Monia Hossain and I am a senior. I am in the IBCP Program and I have been taking art for 3 years and graphic arts for 4 years. I am in multiple clubs: National Honor Society, Hope, Robotics (President), Beta (Secretary), National Art Honor Society (President), Fine Arts Council, and SkillsUSA. I was in Journalism/Yearbook in my sophomore year, but I was more into art than journalism. However, I took my photography skills to the next level and I improved on them in IB Art. I enjoy making art because it is a way for me to express myself and allow me to have a voice. Art will always be a part of me because it is a big portion of me. I use art in all my classes, especially projects where art can help me be creative. I am currently in IB English A, IB HOA, and IB Art; IB Art is my favorite IB class because I got to improve so much and explore different styles and media. My favorite medium right now is the prisma colored pencils because they can be layered to make the drawing look shaded or blended smoothly. My art style is currently realism mixed with imagination, where most of my backgrounds are cartoony or imaginary, but the subject or emphasis is a realistic animal or person. I am going to college at University of North Georgia and then I am hoping to transfer to GaTech after I am finished with my core classes. I am wanting to become a software engineer and I know I will not have time or be able to take an art class in college, but I know outside of college I will make art because it is a part of me.

My name is Limbeth Hernandez, I am an early senior at West Hall High school since I will be graduating a year early. I will have completed three years of art by the end of this school year and one year of chorus. I began to take art in the tenth grade and I never thought I would fall in love with it. I first got into art because I had no other options for electives, out of the few options I had left I chose art. I chose it because as a child I liked art I wanted to do art but was never good at it. I believed art revolved around only drawing, but I was wrong. Taking beginners art really taught me about the many different areas in art, my personal favorite is ceramics but I also enjoy painting and building. Beginners art helped me find why I felt connected to all the arts and crafts, it helped me find my area and started up my creative mind. In beginners art during the unit of ceramics was my favorite unit, my teacher submitted my ceramics piece into an art show that won first place. I knew I wanted to take ceramics the following school year, but I also wanted to learn and explore more which is why I took visual arts three. In art three I learned how much I enjoyed painting on a textured surface, like manipulating surfaces, and building with not only clay. In fact, art three also helped me challenge myself by working with media I did not really enjoy. Art taught me that I can also bring it into any of my other classes and how it creates a creative mindset that helps with school and nonschool related areas. I can definitely say that I have grown throughout the years in art, especially in the area of art I'm into. In ceramics I've experimented and taken a step in building big, I then found out I prefered building big. My ceramic pieces have improved not only in size but in looks. I am an anxious person, I really want to see my work fully done. It makes me feel proud of myself. There would be times when I stayed after school to work on my pieces, go during free time, and ask permission from my other elective teachers to go to the art room just to work and make sure I finished my project. Being elected to be in the NAHS was a really meaningful thing. I never saw myself as a creative person and never thought I would ever do any art related activities. Being in the club really helped me learn to work with others especially other artists and also teach. West Hall High School art held a camp day with first graders where we taught them how to build pinch pot pods and tie dye. Starting late and ending early in my art pathway is very emotional to me because I wish I could have spent more time in art.

Hello. My name is Mayly Lao, a Senior in High School and am part of the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. I have only taken two traditional art classes in High School (sophomore and senior year). However, art has been an essential part of my life from before High School. Throughout my school career, I have been doodling and improving on my art techniques and style. I have grown more confident in my artistic abilities and have started creating larger-scale and more detailed pieces.
For my first year in High School, I was a flutist in Band. I had a lot of fun, enjoying playing the songs and the family created within the group. However, I had to leave because I was being overwhelmed with work because of Early College. Even though I had to leave the Band, I still played. I volunteered to play in a local church’s orchestra with my younger brother and we are still playing in it. However, as of right now, because of the virus going around, I haven’t been able to meet and practice on Sundays with the orchestra group.
Over the years, my artistic techniques have improved little by little, but the last two years of High School has greatly increased my knowledge and ability as compared to before taking the classes. In those classes, I learned more than I would have if I just learned on my own. I have helped paint a mural for Elachee for when they were doing construction, and have made multiple artworks to give away to my community.
Of all the classes that I have taken throughout my High School Career, the art classes have always been my favorite. They help me to relax and develop a skill that I have worked on for a very long time.
Hello , My name is Karina Lopez and I am a senior currently enrolled at West Hall High school. As of now I am not involved in any school activities such as sports or clubs But I tend to participate in many activities my art teachers bring in such as working with first graders or traveling to art shows. As of now I've been in one county show and I beleive senior year was my year to bloom with art. I've never been more involved than this year. freshman sophomore and junior year of high school I decided to do hope club and national art honor society . At the end of junior Year my main focus was to first of all graduate but also be more involved with the passion i have for art so I planned ahead and I became a part-time dual enrolled student over the summer I also did classes during the school year that only took up two periods in order to get some of my college core classes out of the way before I actually enter College. Although I have thought many times that I would go to Art School as of right now I am setting that plan to the side and I am planning on going into the medical field to be an emergency room nurse. I know for a fact that art will always have a spot in my heart. art is a way for me to express myself without people having to really understand what is going on in my mind. Ever since I started becoming more involved in the Arts I have discovered more and more mediums that I have fallen for. At the very beginning of my high school years I thought art was mostly: paper, pencil ,markers ,scissors, and glue but as I became more involved into the Arts I have discovered many more mediums such as prismacolor, working with value, oil pastel, charcoal, and even tiles. However, my favorite medium will always be ceramics. I would describe my art style as A more vintage rustic old timey Along with weird. With this diploma seal I believe it will open up many more opportunities for me in the future. Many Industries are looking for Creative individuals to bring in an attracting spark in their companies because without art the world is nothing.
