My name is Emily Wood and I have been part of choir since my sophomore year, and I was in theatre for my freshman year and art for my junior and senior year. I am also a member of the Band of Silver as Color Guard captain, and I have been a member for all four years of my high school career. I have been to District 14 Honor Choir for two years, to Biltmore as a selected singer twice, and chosen for Literary Trio as an alto voice. I also participated in theatrical productions as a member of technical crew for Steel Magnolias and played the part of Gloria in Thoroughly Modern Millie. I went to Thespian conference as well and was able to learn several choreographies and techniques. The fine arts that I have been involved with throughout highschool have led to numerous memories and connections as well as skills that I have to take with me beyond high school.

This video is from an early rehearsal for a choral competition. I am singing the alto part.
My choral experience began in my Freshman year and was able to continue throughout my Junior and Senior academic years. My involvement with the Fine Arts programs at West Hall has been the highlight of my high school career. As well as the West Hall choir, I have been in the West Hall Band of Silver as a Color Guard member for all four years and during my Senior year I had the privilege to be a Captain of our team. During my Junior and Senior years I was excited to branch out further into the Fine Arts disciplines and when I joined the IB program I immediately wanted to take the IB Art classes. Throughout my experience in these classes I have been able to amplify my creativity and grow in my ability to express my feelings and views of the world through a different medium. During this time of exploration I was also able to audition for the Thoroughly Modern Millie and Wizard of Oz musicals. I was given the characters of Rita and Auntie Em/Glinda the Good Witch in these performances and though we will not be able to perform the Wizard of Oz musical I am still honored that I was given the opportunity to be given such an influential role. I was also able to be a part of the technical crew for the production of Steel Magnolias and support my fellow thespians from behind the curtain. I am a member of the National Art Honors Society and I have been able to join Troupe 4589 in going to Thespian conference. I went to Honor Choir during my sophomore, junior, senior years. I was also selected to compete in the Literary competition as part of the Trio ensemble. I have loved being part of these Fine Arts disciplines and they have helped extensively to grow my character and help me to develop time management and new creative thinking.
