Melena Appling

Biography

I am Melena Appling! I am a senior at West Hall High School, and I am very happy to represent your theatre department. I am the Thespian Society President for Troupe 4589! Additionally, I am significantly involved in school aspects as well. I am in the International Baccalaureate Full Diploma Program, which means I take the most rigorous courses offered at my school. I am the Class Representative for the Class of 2020 at my school. I am in many other clubs as well, such as. Spanish National Honors Society, Honors Society, BETA club and many more. You may have seen me on the sidelines at football games because I am a varsity cheerleader. I am fluent in the Spanish Language and will get the Bilingual Diploma in May.

I have been in theatre all four years of high school as well as when I was younger, and I love theatre very much. I was a former competition dancer and I am very dedicated to theatre. I have choreographed many dances for the Spartan Players, as well as starred in many leading roles. I am very thankful for the opportunities I have been given. I have grown so much throughout these four years, and I am very appreciative for the wonderful high school experience I’ve been given. The capstone project has been a place where I could document my growth experiences and much more. I hope you enjoy reading, watching and understanding my journey. Thank you very much.

I hope you all enjoy my Theatre Fine Arts Seal Capstone!

Jacob Gault

Biography

At Oakwood Elementary School I was a member of the Oakwood performers. We sang before a Gwinnett Braves game, Oakwood Christmas tree lighting, and many school events. I was part of the chorus at West Hall Middle School from 6th grade through 8th grade. There I experienced larger concerts and performing in evaluations for the first time.

West Hall High School chorus brought more opportunities and challenges. I was able to perform in multiple annual concerts as well as in local churches and the Biltmore House. We continued the large group performance evaluations and added the Region Literary meets. I participated in the men’s quartet all four years.

During my junior year, I was encouraged by some friends to audition for a theater show. I fell in love with it. I participated in the last three shows of the year, not only as a performer, but a tech crew member. This year I participated in all the shows by: building sets, designing the lights, and performing.

I served on the fine arts council for three years. This year I was elected as vice president of the West Hall theater troupe.
