Tip for Families:
To Solve Teen Problems, Do Ask, Don’t Tell
The older teens get, the less parents are able to tell them what to do. Instead, use problem-solving techniques to help your teen figure out what to do.
Here are some suggestions:
Limit a problem-solving session to one issue. If you’re concerned about the amount of time your teen is spending playing on a phone, for example, stick to that topic. Do not look at problem-solving sessions as an opportunity to bring up the past or to mention everything your teen has done that bothers you. That will lead only to arguments, not solutions.
Never accuse. Instead, explain your concerns. “I understand that it’s important for you to unwind after class but I worry when you spend so much time scrolling and playing games that you don’t finish your schoolwork until midnight. It’s hard for me to see you so exhausted when you have to get up for school the next day.”
Ask for your teen’s ideas. “How can you change your schedule so you can finish your homework by 10:30?”
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Middle School Athletics: Hall County School District Middle School Sporting Events will have an admission price of $5 per ticket. There will be a flat fee of $15 for a family of three or more.
Car Rider Procedures:
In the morning, we will only have 1 line. This will allow our staff to enter the parking lot. Please do not pass the car in line in front of you as students may be exiting on the driver's side. We want all students to arrive safely. In the afternoon, we will have 2 lines to get traffic off Fran Mar as soon as possible. We will merge in a zipper format in the afternoon at the indicated merge point. Thank you!
Insurance:
The HCSD offers student insurance through the company, Student Assurance Services. This insurance is supplemental to a family’s primary provider and will assist with added costs in certain situations. For more details, please refer to…

Consejos para Familias:
Para Resolver Problemas De Adolescentes, Pregunte, No Diga
Cuanto más crecen los adolescentes, menos pueden los padres decirles qué hacer. En su lugar, utilice técnicas de resolución de problemas para ayudar a su adolescente descubrir qué hacer.
Aquí hay algunas sugerencias:
Limite una sesión de resolución de problemas a un solo tema. Si le preocupa la cantidad de tiempo que su adolescente pasa jugando con el teléfono, por ejemplo, limítese a ese tema. No considere las sesiones de resolución de problemas como una oportunidad para sacar a relucir el pasado o mencionar todo lo que su adolescente ha hecho y que le molesta. Eso sólo conducirá a argumentos, no a soluciones.
Nunca acuses. En su lugar, explique sus inquietudes. “Entiendo que es importante que te relajes después de clase, pero me preocupa cuando pasas tanto tiempo desplazándote y jugando que no terminas tu tarea escolar hasta la medianoche. Es difícil para mí verte tan exhausto cuando tienes que levantarte para ir a la escuela al día siguiente”.
Pregunte por las ideas de su adolescente. “¿Cómo puedes cambiar tu horario para poder terminar tu tarea a las 10:30?”

Atletismo en Escuelas Intermedias: Los Eventos Deportivos de Escuelas Intermedias del Distrito Escolar del Condado de Hall tendrán un precio de entrada de $5 por boleto. Habrá una tarifa fija de $15 para una familia de tres o más.
Procedimientos para Pasajeros por Carro:
Por la mañana, solo tendremos 1 línea. Esto permitirá que nuestro personal ingrese al estacionamiento. Por favor, no pase el automóvil en línea frente a usted ya que los estudiantes pueden estar saliendo del lado del conductor. Queremos que todos los estudiantes lleguen seguros. Por la tarde dispondremos de 2 líneas para sacar el tráfico de Fran Mar lo antes posible. Vamos a confluir en formato cremallera por la tarde en el punto de fusión indicado. ¡Gracias!
