Tip for Families:
Share a System for Getting More Out of Reading
Is complex reading a struggle for your teen? Share the PAGE method for retaining information from reading. PAGE stands for Prepare, Ask, Gather and Evaluate.
Here’s how it works:
Prepare. Your teen should browse through each page of the assigned reading for five to thirty seconds per page. Your student should look at the headings, illustrations, maps and charts.
Ask. Your teen should go through the assigned passage again. Have your teen identify key words and concepts (often in bold or italics), and come up with a short list of questions about the topic.
Gather. Next your teen should read the material section by section. After finishing each section, your teen should try to summarize the information.
Evaluate. Your teen should answer any questions at the end of the reading, then try to answer the questions from the Ask step. Then, your teen can consider the main ideas and subtopics. Can your student summarize each section? Give details to support main ideas? If not, your teen should go over those sections again.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Middle School Athletics: Hall County School District Middle School Sporting Events will have an admission price of $5 per ticket. There will be a flat fee of $15 for a family of three or more.
Car Rider Procedures:
In the morning, we will only have 1 line. This will allow our staff to enter the parking lot. Please do not pass the car in line in front of you as students may be exiting on the driver's side. We want all students to arrive safely. In the afternoon, we will have 2 lines to get traffic off Fran Mar as soon as possible. We will merge in a zipper format in the afternoon at the indicated merge point. Thank you!
Insurance:
The HCSD offers student insurance through the company, Student Assurance Services. This insurance is supplemental to a family’s primary provider and will assist with added costs in certain situations. For more details, please refer to…

¡Gracias!
