What is an apprenticeship?
Apprenticeships offer training for a job while working with an employer, alongside study for an associated qualification. You get paid while working. There are various levels of apprenticeship and they are available in various industry sectors from Agriculture and Business Administration to Construction and Hairdressing. They are predominantly work based, meaning you spend 80% of your time gaining work skills and experience from your employer, with the remaining 20% centered around training and study time for your qualification.
What grades do I need to apply for an apprenticeship?
There are different entry requirements depending on the sector and job. Employers set the requirements and typically require you to have GCSE Maths and English at a grade 4.
Who are they suited to?
They are suited to individuals who want to combine work and training at the same time.Â
