Rhyming Activities

Rhyming activities:


1. What is in My Bag?

Fill a bag with household items:

spoon key

can toy car

pen brush

​sock ball

cup clip

doll shoe

Then have the child take out an item and give a rhyming word (real or nonsense). Continue doing this until all the time have been taken out of the bag.

2. Magnetic letter fridge rhyming:

If you don't have magnetic letters you can write a rhyming word on a piece of paper and put it on your fridge. When your child walks by the word say Hi, give me a word that rhymes with the word on the fridge. ( cat-hat etc.) Say the words together. Change the word up each day or wait until you get 5 words.

3. Act out rhyming words:

Say the following and then do the action:

bump rhymes with jump

keep rhymes with leap

fun rhymes with run

hip rhymes with skip

trim rhymes with swim

fist rhymes with twist
