Heart 2 Heart Humane Society is a volunteer-run nonprofit helping animals and the people who care for them, mostly through TNVR and low-cost spay/neuter, and by connecting neighbors with the resources they need.
Our Mission
To reduce animal overpopulation and suffering in Charlton County through accessible, community-driven TNVR and low-cost spay/neuter services, meeting our community where it is, with the resources we have, and making meaningful, sustained progress together.
We trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return community cats, so colonies stop growing and cats stay healthy!
We help Charlton County pet owners get their animals fixed at a reduced rate through our clinic partners
We can't take animals in ourselves, but we work with sanctuaries, rescues, and fosters to find safe placements!
Charlton County is rural, low-income, and has no animal control. The closest low-cost spay/neuter clinic is an hour's drive away. Neighbors had tried for years to start a humane society, and in 2024 we decided to begin with what we had.
Started our TNVR program in 2025 and have fixed hundreds of community cats
Led two large rescue operations and helped with others, working alongside partner rescues, shelters, sanctuaries, and the Georgia Department of Agriculture
Took part in free spay days offered by our clinic partner
Ran a pet food bank that helped local families keep their pets fed
Opened a thrift store and kitten room, and passed donations on to other nonprofits
Fostered and adopted out cats
Helped countless residents find the resources they need
Donate: Every $68 covers TNVR for one community cat!
Foster: You provide the love and a safe spot; we cover vet care!
*We only take in cats when we have funds and a foster.
Volunteer: Trap, fundraise, photograph, write, work vendor booths. There's a role for you!
