Charlton County has no animal control, and Heart 2 Heart is a small volunteer group, not a shelter. We can only take in an animal when we have both a foster and funds, which is rare. We can still help in the ways below, and point you to other resources when we can't.
Call the local sheriff's office. File a report on the incident. (912) 496-7321
Fill out a form on the Department of Agriculture's website: https://gdaforms.wufoo.com/forms/companion-animalequine-complaint-submission-form/
Let us know via info@h2hhumane.org or message us on Facebook. There's not much we can do alone, but if the Department of Agriculture comes out, assisting them is easier when we have a heads up!
We only take in cats when we have funds and a foster, so let us know if you'd be willing to foster the animal while we look for help. If we can't take it in, we can share a Facebook post to see if someone in our network can help. If it's a friendly cat you can handle, you can also call the Humane Society of Camden County and ask about an owner surrender. We don't take in dogs, but we work with other rescues and can refer you if they have space.
To reach us, email info@h2hhumane.org or message us on Facebook, and we'll see what we can do.
We trap, neuter, vaccinate, and return community cats so colonies stop growing and the cats stay healthy. TNVR is $68 per cat. If you can't pay the full amount, please fill out the form anyway. Please be as truthful as possible about the situation; we're here to help when and where we can! Cats whose full cost can't be covered may be placed on a waitlist, and the sooner you send the form, the easier it is for us to work them into the schedule.
We help Charlton County pet owners get their animals spayed or neutered at a reduced rate through our clinic partner. Pet cats: use the TNVR Request Form and say in the "Tell us about the situation" field that it's a pet. Dogs: use the Dog Spay/Neuter Form. Dog owners must drive their own animals to and from the clinic, about an hour away.
We don't have a shelter, animal control, or an emergency vet. We usually can't take in strays, we can't pay pet vet bills, and we know this is frustrating. We'll do what we can, but we can't do it all! It takes a community!
