For Standard Level (SL) students, the IA is assessed through four criteria:
Criterion A: Analysing and evaluating existing products.
Criterion B: Developing ideas.
Criterion C: Creating a solution.
Criterion D: Testing and evaluating the solution.
Higher Level (HL) students are evaluated on six criteria, which include the four SL criteria plus two additional criteria:
Criterion E: Exploring broader issues, such as ethical, social, and environmental considerations related to the design.
Criterion F: Implementing innovative approaches to their design solutions, which may include advanced techniques or new technologies.
The IA allows students to apply theoretical knowledge to practical problems, encouraging creativity and critical thinking in the process.
