Design Technology

The DP Design Technology course aims to cultivate internationally-minded individuals with a deep understanding of design and technology. This knowledge empowers students to contribute to global stewardship and work towards a better world.

Central to the course are the processes of analysis, design development, synthesis, and evaluation (which correspond to the four Criterions of the AI and the Design Cycle in MYP.)

Inquiry and problem-solving from the core of the subject. Students utilise the DP design cycle as a methodological tool to structure their inquiry and problem analysis, develop feasible solutions, and test and evaluate these solutions. In this context, a solution can take the form of a model, prototype, product, or system that students develop independently.

The course fosters high design literacy by honing students' critical-thinking and design skills, which they apply in practical contexts. Design work varies, but always involves the selective application of knowledge within an ethical framework.

A well-structured design programme not only equips students with practical skills but also nurtures their creative and critical thinking strategies.
