Hear from a student studying VCE Chemistry!
My name is Nathan and I am studying Chemistry in VCE. Chemistry is undoubtedly the most important science in VCE as it provides many options regarding university courses compared to other science subjects (especially STEM courses). Chemistry explores the natural world at a microscopic level as the content expands into both biology and physics for this subject will require theory, calculations and a bit of memorisation (which all of you are most definitely qualified for). Although this subject is most definitely not easy, chemistry is incredibly fun especially when it comes to the practicals. Personally, I enjoyed titration and stoichiometry (Unit 1/2) the most so far, especially the practicals simply due to being able to proactively learn and work with one another on a more hands-on experience rather than just writing down notes. I can guarantee that chemistry is not an easy subject as most "tortured chemistry students" can agree that the most difficult thing about chemistry is to be able to understand the concepts/theory and be able to apply that knowledge. Ultimately, my last piece of advice is that to improve in chemistry, it will require: time, perseverance, dedication and a fair level of exposure.
