Ms. Mitchell’s Math Class Expectations and Procedures for Parents and Students
Parents:
Your student will receive a plastic folder on the first day of school. In this folder daily I will provide important information, daily expectations, and any homework assignments your student is required to complete for the following day.
To assist you as a parent/guardian, I need to allow the use of this folder to be a support for you and me as the teacher to ensure that there are no misunderstandings of expectations for me or your student.
Students:
Take risks before you take tests. Work in class and complete homework. IT IS OK TO MAKE MISTAKES WITH ANSWERS TO HELP YOU GROW AND UNDERSTAND BEFORE YOU TAKE A TEST.
Ask questions. No question is STUPID. YOU MUST UNDERSTAND TO LEARN.
Do not be afraid to challenge learning approaches. Everyone LEARNS differently.
UNDERSTAND there is more than one way to solve math problems. Everyone processes differently.
NON-NEGOTIABLES FOR PARENTS AND STUDENTS:
Cheating
Not showing work in Math-No full credit will be given without work shown
Treating others as they are stupid because it takes them longer to understand problems
Pens do not work in Math. You are required to have pencils in Math class.
