My initial gut reaction to Every Teacher Can Improve, was that every teacher needs to watch this video. No teacher should feel comfortable with their job because things are constantly changing and it only makes you better to change with it. I love that he says, "It should never be easy and every teacher needs to get better." Every teacher is different in how they present things or how they relate to students. However, no teacher is perfect, so for that reason they should want to improve. The quote, "If you are not failing on a daily basis, then you are just not paying attention", makes me reflect. I reflect every day at the end of a lesson, but that does not always stick with me. I should probably write my reflections down, so that I can continually come back to those and create better ways to handle each situation. The challenge of teaching is what makes it fun. Those rare great lessons where the content clicks for the entire class is fun. The times when that student that rarely gets it, gets it, is fun! I believe teaching is the best job because I enjoy being busy. There is constantly something you can be planning or grading and there are so many extra things to get involved in after school. Which helps building those relationships with the students as well!
