ACD Presentation Guidelines
As part of your ACD application, you will create and present a 20 minute presentation to a panel of full-time Res Ed staff which includes RAs ,current ACDs and CDs (specific staff members/ACDs dependent on individual schedules) with a Q&A session to follow.
Please choose from one of the three following areas: 1) staff leadership, 2) administrative duties, or 3) residential support and programming to present on. These three areas are the overarching job functions for the ACD position.
Once you pick an area, select one of the options to present on.
Requirements
Presentation is 20 minutes in length (no less, no more)
Presentation is based on topics listed below, unless pre-approved by CD
You must include at least one physical component (PowerPoint, image board, handouts, etc.) to guide your presentation.
Feel free to get creative and include activities that require audience participation, etc.
The more you are able to fully develop your idea so that we could easily implement it during the year, the better!
You will also apart of the interview present during the Spring Training to all of the current RA staff
Topic Options
1) STAFF LEADERSHIP
Option #1: Create a mock Group Interview Activity for RA selection
Include goals/objectives
How will this activity help us find out the strengths/weaknesses of the applicant, etc.
Be prepared to present on the specific activity you would facilitate and the required materials
Include other components including possible debrief questions, number of volunteer staff members required to facilitate activity, number of RA applications involved, etc.
Think through all of the logistics
Option #2: Create a proposal for an RA-in service project
Include objectives
How will this help develop RA skills, what population are you serving, etc.
Think about logistics (travel, budget, etc. as applicable) and the involvement of campus partners
2) ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES
Option #1: Create an RA Fall Training Session covering ONE of the following topics:
Roommate conflict mediation
RA duty expectations and crisis communication/management
Helpful campus resources
Other issue that you find important/relevant (must be approved by Michelle)
3) RESIDENTIAL STUDENT SUPPORT AND PROGRAMMING
Option #1: Present an idea for a program that would provide information on a specific resource available on campus for students
Make sure to think about the following (but not limited to):

Option #2: Present an idea for an educational program that promotes inclusion and diversity
