Chiari malformations are defined as a cognitive malformation of the cerebellum by 5 mm, in simpler terms the cerebellum has moved by at least 5 mm. The cerebellum is responsible for cognition and emotion so increased pressure on the nerves and spinal cord cause different psychological disorders like depression, and physical disorders like spine problems.
