Entrepreneurship, connection, growth and fun are central to Guidion's work environment. Being part of Guidion means you are intrinsically motivated to develop personally and professionally. Growth is deeply rooted in our culture, core values, leadership, rituals, processes and systems. How can you work on your growth? Which tools do we offer for this? Read more here.
We believe that you choose a challenge, not a job. Once that challenge is over or you have finished learning, you look for something new. Just like surfing: you catch a wave, land back on the beach and then decide to catch another wave or move to another beach. We create an environment in which you can be the best version of yourself. We make waves, it's up to you to catch them!
Taking time to reflect encourages growth. Evaluating things that went well or could have gone better and understanding why you did certain things in a certain way. The goal is to learn from this. Every half year you have a reflection conversation with your manager. The emphasis is on two-way traffic, honest feedback, your development and the future. A conversation about how things are going and where you want to grow. Together you discuss the fit with your function and the culture of Guidion.
Reflection conversation
You and your manager receive a ‘reflection form’ every half year. The form contains questions to be used as input for the reflection meeting; to help you start thinking about what you want to discuss. Every half year we ask new questions to make you think and stimulate your growth. Your manager is also asked to make a statement about you: meets, does not meet or an “I doubt, let's discuss. The last category can only be chosen for half a year because we believe in being fair, and therefore admitting colour. We deliberately choose this three-point scale to encourage feedback and honest conversation and it becomes a conversation about growth and development. We also ensure your manager is clear and/or you do not leave the conversation with the wrong idea.
At Guidion, we work with a dual focus. Our long-term vision which can be found in the Red Thread is translated into short-term goals. From this point, we always look ahead one quarter to set goals. This allows us to remain flexible and spend as little time as possible on plans and timelines that often turn out differently in reality.
Quarterly goals
Setting goals is an important part of our Way of Working. The News Hour colleagues determine the focus for the upcoming quarter for their team and align interdependencies. This translates into quarterly goals for various teams. From there, all teams pick up these goals and make sure they are linked to each person's individual contribution. At the start of each new quarter, everyone at Guidion has their own quarterly goals established, based on their replies to three questions: "What goal do you want to achieve?", "Why do you want to achieve this?" and "What actions will you take to achieve this goal?". We distinguish between work-related goals (run & change) and personal goals (growth & development). By making your personal goals tangible, you can always pay sufficient attention to your own growth. See our HR-tool HiBob for our rhythm and goals we work on together. This tool is for Guidion colleagues only.
Since January 2025, we have been using Management Drives to better understand what motivates us, how we work together and where we can still grow. It creates a common language and stimulates growth and more effective collaboration.
We use Management Drives:
When recruiting new candidates. We refine the job interview by focusing on a person's motivations and assessing whether they are a good fit for the position and the team.
For personal development, it offers colleagues the opportunity to get to know themselves better and to use their talents more consciously.
In team sessions, we create insight into how a team can work together more effectively and make optimal use of each other's motivations.
You can contact your manager or the People Team with all your development questions, including the search for fitting courses. The People Team focuses on competence development, successful cooperation and stimulation of individual and team responsibility. In this way, we guide and secure continuous growth and development of yourself, your team and the organisation as a whole.
You can use your annual development budget to work on your personal and professional development. Your personal learning goal will be recorded in your objectives. Visit letsgrow.guidion.com for information about using your development budget, advice on development, signing up for a training course and more inspiration.
Being part of Guidion guarantees a fun, interesting time and ample growth, as long as you are open to learning and seizing opportunities (waves). When the moment comes to move on and continue your career someplace else. We hope we can have open conversations about this when the time comes, and share this success, too. We will do this by helping you to make your next step, reaching out to our network, receiving your feedback during a farewell meeting and toasting to a great time together. Our goal: for you to remember your wonderful time at Guidion with great enthusiasm and for us not to lose sight of each other.
