ASU Gear Up

Introduction of Gear Up –

The next 5-years we will be here to support your student through completing high school and planning, preparing and beginning what is next for them post high school graduation. GEAR UP stands for Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Programs and is a federally funded grant. Our program is here to support students and families in an effort to increase academic preparation; social-emotional preparation; school sustainability; and postsecondary planning, attendance and successful completion.

Prayer Branham Bio –

Prayer Branham is the Educational Outreach Specialist for the ASU Gear Up program. She is a native of Phoenix, Arizona and an alumnus of South Mountain High School. She also is a graduate of Arizona State University where she completed her Bachelors degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. Prayer has worked in Higher Education for five years with experience in University Admissions and Recruiting. Prayer has also been a Basketball Coach for six years, she has experiencing coaching in High School and College. Prayer plans to pursue her Masters Degree this Fall at Arizona State University. She truly finds fulfillment in helping others and mentoring youth. She is very excited to make a difference at Glendale High School.

Jasmine Dean Bio –

Jasmine is the Sr. Coordinator for the GEAR UP Program overseeing our West Valley High Schools. Jasmine completed her Bachelors of Arts degree in Public Relations from Arizona State Universities (ASU) Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communications & her Bachelors of General Studies Degree with emphasis in Meeting Planning, Leadership and Special Events Management from the University College in 2013. In 2015 Jasmine completed her Masters degree in Post-Secondary Education from ASU’s Mary Lou Fulton Teacher’s College. Prior to her current role Jasmine was a Career Advisor for 2 years at ASU. She assisted ASU students and alumni with writing resumes, searching for employment and perfecting interview skills. Her goal in life is to leave an honorable legacy that portrays her desire to make a difference in the lives of others. She wants to leave a legacy that is one her family will treasure and that the world will appreciate.
