The GHS Cardinal Choirs include over 130 students in one of these four groups: Women’s Chorus, Men’s Choir, Concert Choir and Vocal Ensemble. Many of the students in Women’s Chorus and Men’s Choir have little to no choral singing background and have not been involved in any other music activity before their time in the Cardinal Choir program. After singing in one of these choirs for at least one year, students are eligible to audition for the Concert Choir or the advanced group, Vocal Ensemble. Vocal Ensemble is comprised of 20 male and female singers and is featured at many events on campus and throughout the community. With a focus on classical, jazz and pop literature, Vocal Ensemble performs at district festivals, state college festivals, basketball and baseball games, and community meetings. They can also be seen every year at Glendale Glitters with the Glendale Union High School District Honor Choir. In addition to these community events, the choir presents four school concerts occurring in October, December, March and May. The Cardinal Choir program was recognized as the Glendale High School Achievement Above All student group in 2012.
