Theatre 1/2 Course Description:
Through hands-on experience, performance and feedback, lectures and projects, students gain an overall appreciation of the art of theatre, with a focus on beginning acting and technical theatre. The course is open to students in grades 9-12. Students must complete the first semester to be eligible to continue into the second semester. Students interested in further pursuing the coursework may take THEATRE 3/4 during the next school year.
This course meets the University of California Visual & Performing Arts “f” requirement.
Assignments featured in the photos to the right are: video commercial projects, fractured fairy tale performances, team building games, and musical theatre lip-sync performances.

The Advanced Theatre course allows students to develop more sophisticated acting styles and experience beginning Directing work, while collaborating with theatre technicians. Ensemble, focus, commitment, risk taking, meeting goals, reflection, and personal growth are some of the many things we will work on in this class.
THEATRE 3/4/5/6 meets the University of California Visual & Performing Arts “F” requirement.
Technical Theatre encompasses all that goes into making a staged production. The areas of technical theatre are scenery, lighting, properties, costuming, and sound. All of these areas work together in a production to establish the place, time period, and mood of the production. Students will learn skills in all areas, including House crew and management, promotions, and video production.This course serves as a hands-on, lab and project-based program giving the students real world experience in the elements of Technical Theatre. *This course meets the University of California Visual & Performing Arts “F” requirement.

Theatre 7/8 and Honors Theatre Course Description:
The course is designed for students who are interested in Advanced Theatre and Film work. Acting, directing, technical theater, and filmmaking are emphasized. In this course you will continue to work and grow as an artist and/or technician. Ensemble, focus, commitment, risk taking, meeting goals, reflection, and personal growth are some of the many things we will work on in this class.
This class is an exciting opportunity to experiment with Viewpoints work, mask making and performance, multimedia integration, and video projects. The coursework's culminating element is two or more showcases and/or productions requiring full cast and crew under the supervision of the Theatre and Technical Directors.
The Viewpoints of Space Cine Roman project was performed by the Advanced/Honors Theatre classes of spring 2021 and 2023 (curated and edited by Ms. Nylund-Lieb).
