The bulk of this unit is completed through Code.org. However, in some cases we have added additional supplemental material to a particular Code.org lesson and in other cases we will skip parts of lessons, or in some cases, entire lessons.
Use this page to help you complete your Unit on A.I. and Machine Learning.
The Chapter and Lesson names below match what you see in Code.org to make it easier to stay on track.
Chapter 1 is specifically about machine learning.

Description: The potential for AI to help society is enormous. But at the same time we need to develop technology with a focus on ethics, access and fairness. This video explores the influence of AI on every aspect of life and underscores the importance of ethical oversight to prevent the creation of biased AI algorithms.

Most major tech companies and U.S. government security agencies that deal in AI have some sort of AI Ethics policy. What do you notice about each of the policies? How are they similar? How are they different? Do you think they are missing anything important?
Apple - (Note: Apple does not have a specific AI policy. Instead it has a general compliance policy to cover all facets of the business)

This assessment will cover all of Chapter 1 (Lessons 1 - 15) of the AI and Machine Language Unit in the Code.org Computer Science Discoveries course.
This assessment will consist of a single, online, multiple-choice exam.
The link to the exam can be found in the Procedure section below.
Follow these steps for your exam:
Get out your CS Notebook so you have it available for the exam. It is the only thing you can use to help you with your test.
The link for the AI and Machine Learning: Chapter 1 Test will become active TWO MINUTES after the tardy bell rings on the day of the exam (see the Daily Class Announcements for details about test dates).
When you finish the online portion you are finished with exam. Find something silent to do until everyone has completed the multiple choice portion of the exam. Please extend the courtesy for all students to complete the entire test in a quiet environment that is free of distractions.
You will have the entire period, if needed, to complete your exam.
All test make-ups must be made within FOUR school days of the exam.
Make-ups are usually conducted during Period 7, and/or after school (no lunch or before school make-ups).
Contact your teacher to make arrangements for your make up.
Failure to make up a missed exam could result in a permanent zero grade for that exam.
