About Us


The Blue and Black Brigade Colorguard spins flags, rifles, and sabres while utilizing elements of dance to add visual and artistic enhancement to the Band's performance during the marching season.

Colorguard is open to all students and all experience levels. We can teach you everything you need to know!

As per district policy, students must be enrolled in the Colorguard class to participate.

Essential Equipment for Colorguard

1 Pair of Colorguard Gloves

Color will be determined by staff

To alleviate individual shipping costs, an order will be made at the beginning of each school year.

1 Pair of Slip on Jazz Shoes

Color will be determined by staff

To alleviate individual shipping costs, an order will be made at the beginning of each school year.

2 Pairs Minimum No Show Black Socks

Socks must be completey black, logo-free, and cotton. It is imperative that the socks cannot be seen above the shoe.

1 Pair of Ankle Length Black Leggings

Referred to as "Show Blacks." Must be completely black and ankle length (no crops). Leggings cannot have a visible logo, pattern, or stripes.

1-2 Black Athletic Tops

Referred to as "Show Blacks." Must be completely black. T shirts are permitted No visible logos, patterns, or stripes. Cannot have thin straps and no crop tops.

Financial hardship will not bar students from participation. TEMPO can offer assistance.

Essential Equipment for Band Camp

Band Camp is mandatory for all members of the Blue and Black Brigade Band and Colorguard. It is held each year in the two weeks before the start of school.

Daily Attire

Students must bring or wear the following:

  • Athletic Shorts or Leggings

  • T-shirt

  • Cotton Socks (Short Ok)

  • Athletic Shoes (Walking/Running shoes are ideal. Skate shoes do not offer appropriate support.)

  • HAT/Sunglasses

  • Sunscreen!

  • Hair Accessories for Long Hair

We are outside on the football field every morning during camp. It can get very hot. Students must dress appropriately with sun protection in mind.

Daily Gear

  • Large water bottle full of water- Students will need about a gallon of water for each day of camp

  • Dotbook (spiral bound index card booklet) and Pencil

  • Long Shoelace or String to Make Dotbook Wearable

  • Necessary Equipment as determined by staff

  • Lunch
