Madeline Short

Founder and Editor-in-Chief

Madeline is a senior who loves reading and writing in her free time and has a love-hate relationship with swimming competitively, but she’s most well known for being Mrs. Short’s daughter. She's a member of academic league and yearbook, as well as involved in class office and numerous clubs. Her qualifications for working on this Literary Magazine include a reading award her sixth-grade teachers made up especially for her and a few perfect scores on essays over the years and that's pretty much it. But she’s excited nonetheless to finally be able to put those skills to work as Editor-in-Chief for the Santana Literary Review.

Amanda Schoonover

Poetry Editor

Amanda is a senior who enjoys dancing, knitting, and looking through various forms of media. She has been a competitive dancer for 13 years which has allowed her to develop valuable teamwork skills. She appreciates seeing other people’s perspectives on different topics through the art they create and is always open to new views and ideas. She enjoys both reading and writing and is very excited to read and review all of your submissions!

Natalie Kauffman

Short Fiction Editor

Natalie is a senior who belongs to numerous clubs including Academic League, Debate Club as well as being Secretary of AP Help Club. She has loved to read since the 2nd grade when she beat her brother in their class reading competition. She finds non-fiction boring and as such is excited to be the non-fiction editor.

Riley Rogers

Nonfiction Editor

Riley is a senior who loves to spend time with friends and is involved in numerous different activities around campus including ASB, field hockey, water polo, and AP Help Club. She has loved reading ever since she discovered she could and loves to read what other people have to say about the things going on around the world. She is super excited to be the nonfiction editor for Santana’s literary magazine and looks forward to seeing the awesome submissions students create!

Joshua Fornaca

Joshua is a senior and member of Academic League, Debate Club, and AP Help club. With a passion for media and literature, he hopes to contribute as much as he can to the design of this magazine.

MaRinajh Janeo

Art Editor

MaRinajh (pronounced Marina) loves working with traditional and digital art. She often paints portraits using oil on canvas and enjoys sketching from life in her free time. MaRinajh is currently pursuing her career in nursing and is involved with Santana’s very own Academic League. She is interested in receiving your creative art submissions for the SHS Literary Magazine and cannot wait to review them!

Leonardo Leon

Art Editor

Leonardo is a senior who very much enjoys film and photography. He has been apart of the AME Pathway at Santana for 3 years now, growing and learning in the ways of Premiere Pro and Photoshop. Photos taken by him have even been framed in the school's very own library and in room 203, making him extremely qualified to review the art submissions. He can't wait to witness what the SHS Literary Review will have to offer.

Rojin Dawood

Features Editor

Rojin (pronounced ro-jean) is a senior who is a part of numerous clubs and activities, including MECHA, Students for Change, Debate club, Young Mentors, ACE, and AP Help Club. As a member and officer in these clubs, Rojin has a lot of experience working with others. She has been an avid reader since she was 9 years old when she stumbled across the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" series. As the features edition, she is ecstatic about covering a new topic every publication and cannot wait to see and read student submissions.

Kaylee Burns

DEI Editor

Kaylee is a senior participating in the school's Debate club, ACE, and AP Help. Kaylee plans to work in architecture, practicing building modeling in PLTW right here on campus. She has a soft spot for realistic fiction and she's very excited to read your submissions!

William Maggin

William loves watching movies, reading both nonfiction and fiction history books, and being enlightened on new subjects. William is the Debate Club President, Outreach Coordinator for the Young Mentors Club, and a member of Academic League. With all of these roles, William has been able to gain knowledge on how to coordinate with the masses, which he believes will allow him to increase member and submission numbers. He is excited to be a part of the SHS Literary Magazine and can’t wait for a great literary year.

Joemar is a senior who grew up with all types of digital media and entertainment. He loves gaming, movies, and anything pop culture. He also has a strong interest in everything to do with computer engineering/programming, as well as math-centered subjects. Joemar is currently a member of Debate Club, as well as a member of Academic League. He is always on the lookout for new interests to occupy his time and keep him engaged. He can't wait to see what the SHS Literary Review has to offer this year!
