About Me

Dear Parents and Students,

My full name is Jennifer Ray Hanzal. I am a native San Diegan, raised in Jamul, CA. I graduated from Valhalla High School in 1993. From there, I attended Grossmont and Cuyamaca Community Colleges, until I transferred to Chico State University in Spring of 1995. I only went to Chico for one semster, as I missed my family and friends. I transferred back down to San Diego State University in Fall of 1995. While attending SDSU, I worked as an AVID tutor at Granite Hills High School. I graduated from SDSU in Spring of 1998. After obtaining my teaching credential from National University, I was hired at Granite Hills High School in Fall of 1999. I have been here ever since!

Since then, I have earned a Masters in Multicultural Education from National University and a Reading Certificate from UCSD. Along the way, I have coordinated various programs and taught 9th, 10th, and 11th grade English, Reading, second language classes, and Teaching and Learning. It has been a journey that has shaped me into the person that I am today.

I share this life with an amazing family, which includes my husband, Brian, daughter, Skylar, and my dog, Jaxon. We enjoy camping, off-roading, hiking, and hanging out with friends. My daughter is a Senior at Granite Hills and participates in swim and water polo. She is also on the Yearbook Staff.

I am also the Class of 2020 class adviser. I am looking forward to an amazing Senior Year this year. Any student can be a part of the Class Cabinet. Joining clubs is a great way to make friends and help out in the community.

I look forward to getting to know you this year!

Mrs. Hanzal
