The GLLP Foundation is a separate organization (501 C 3) that allows for donations that are tax-deductable for families and businesses who support the GLLP. This is a great way to meet other parents and discuss ways to offer more opportunities for students to travel both locally and internationally and become more involved. A great opportunity is being offered to tutor for elementary school students from Riverview. Bilingual students are needed to volunteer once a week starting in January of 2020. This is a great experience to help start building those skills for the real world while having fun at the same time. This is a big free festival at the Centro Cultural (Paseo de las Heroés, Zona Urbana Rio) de Tijuana with famous presenters and exhibits.

These trips are very affordable (approx $2000 for airline/lodging/food/camp). Students must apply early and demonstrate interest in Chinese culture.
Flights out of Tijuana are affordable and nice, furnished apartments walking distance from the main city can go for $500. Anders Blog (She and family spent two summers down there and will go again one day!) A lot of great, free activities for all ages.

First week of Aug... Intensive Spanish Speakers Institute at Lake Tahoe! Only $125 for anyone (high school and up) to take this week-long fun course of any level: beginning (for the parents) to superior (for our students). Tons of mini-courses designed around Spanish culture (paella lessons, tango, civiche, conversation, architecture and history......). You can stay at campground right in town (15 min walk to class) that is only a block from the beach of Lake Tahoe. A really fun week of Spanish immersion for the whole family. Here is a sample of the schedule for the week that the coordinator and her daughter did. There is tons of variety and choice.
On Friday, August 12th, freshmen are invited to join us for orientation. Freshman Orientation begins at 8:00 a.m. in the gym and ends at noon. This is a fun-filled event where our new Vaqueros will meet with junior and senior V-Crew leaders to learn about El Cap and participate in a variety of activities. They’ll have an opportunity to tour the campus, make new friends, meet staff, preview their schedule and find their classrooms. School begins on Tuesday, September 1st, so you won't want to miss this exciting opportunity to get ready for the first day of school!

Day of the Dead Ceremonies - October 27- November 2 Celebration of Día de los Muertos from Old Town to Balboa Park. Old Town's event is produced by Save our Heritage Organization (SOHO) whose mission is to preserve, promote, and support preservation of the architectural, cultural, and historical links and landmarks that contribute to the community identity, depth and character of our region.
