Yes! We do ask that you actually read the text -- audiobooks are not permitted for the required project reading choices. For more on this, see the response to "Can we listen to the audio version of a book?".
That's a great idea! You must each read independently (meaning, no divvying up the chapters). You can talk about what you are reading, share insights, discuss what is happening in the story. This will help each of you see the book from different perspectives.
Yes and no. It can be fun read old favorites! But, the purpose of summer enrichment is to help your brain keep exercising by reading new things. Do not choose a classroom, guided reading, or personal read from this or previous school years.
All grades 6-8 required activities will count as a first marking period grade.
Mrs. Bonnefoi was somewhat conflicted on this. Listening to a book can be an incredible experience, and audio books are very convenient during long car rides. Listening is a very important literacy skill. That said, the goals of Summer Enrichment are to engage your brain and keep your visual literacy skills as strong as they are now. Absolutely listen to audiobooks. But when choosing your official project titles, please select one that you have read on the printed page or digital screen.
