READING: Choose 1 summer read and talk about it during STREAM in September.
Read what you like! Visit your local library or the Great Reads page for suggestions.
Optional: It may help to take notes. If you are reading a story, print the Fiction organizer. If you are reading a biography or information book print the Nonfiction organizer. These files are read-only -- you may print, make a copy, or write your ideas on paper.
MATH: Math Fact Practice
Spend 10 minutes each day practicing math facts on 99 math, Prodigy or flash cards.
Track your time on the Math Fact Practice Log (read-only you may print or make a copy)
READING: Read one grade level chapter book you have not read in past years.
Visit your local library or the Great Reads page for suggestions. Novels may be of any genre.
Project: Complete a project on the Book Report Student Choice Board after reading a novel. Students can choose from options of: Character Journal, Book Jacket, Comic Strip, Letter, Magazine Interview, Poem/Song, Newspaper Article, or Movie Poster. Each choice includes a brief description and has specific requirements. Students will be presenting their project to the class during STREAM classes in September. Projects are due to homeroom teachers the first week of school.
MATH: IXL Practice

Make sure you are logging in through the GTSD IXL portal.
Work on the IXL diagnostic until you see a notification that says “Your diagnostic is currently complete.” This takes 45 to 60 minutes.
Practice your recommended IXL skills for a total of 240 minutes (found on the Analytics / Usage page).
Diagnostic and practice should be completed by August 30.
