Mr. Grubbs and Mrs. Landgraf team up to co-teach math using curricular content aligned to 4th grade Pennsylvania Common Core Standards. As partners, they share equal responsibility for meeting the diverse needs of students. The goal of co-teaching is to combine and expand upon the expertise of both professionals for the benefit of all students. Benefits of the co-teaching classroom include:
· teacher led small groups
· fun learning opportunities
· increased student engagement
· more individualized attention
· exposure to various teaching styles
Class starts as whole group where the learning target is introduced and expectations are reviewed. Students then break into small groups where they rotate between several stations. Stations include: direct instruction with one of the teachers, independent work to review and practice previously learned content, skill reinforcement aligned to the current instructional content using a variety of educational apps/programs, and peer/group work to develop problem solving skills.
This year, all students must get their temperature checked, walk through the metal detectors, and take their free breakfast to their homeroom (if you want it). I ask students report to homeroom before asking to see another teacher or use the restroom. This will help the flow of traffic.
