4th grade pullout math instruction takes place in a smaller sized class setting which enables more individualized instruction. Students are taught using a modified curriculum which focuses on the development of foundational skills in the areas of:
· Place value concepts
· Compare numbers
· Round whole numbers
· Add and subtract numbers
· Multiplication
· Division concepts
· Fractions
· Lines, angles, shapes
· Symmetry
Class consists of direct instruction with the teacher, as well as, review/practice of skills using web-based programs such as Prodigy and Reflex math.

Spelling - short vowels and consonants, long vowels, inflected endings, consonant digraphs, r-controlled vowels, plurals, etc.
Language - sentences, subjects, predicates, nouns, etc.
Reading - characters, setting, main idea and details, fact and opinion, compare and contrast, plot, theme, cause and effect, author's purpose, etc.
Phonics Software Component - Students will use Lexia or System 44 daily to work on building phonics skills.
Your child has a R.E.D. Folder (Read Every Day) that is part of their nightly reading homework. By reading with your child as often as you can you will promote and practice fluency which will support your child's reading growth.
