This week in Early Intervention Pre-Kindergarten we learned about fall.
On Tuesday, our four-year-olds went outside for a little nature walk, looking for signs of fall and collecting fall leaves and pinecones. When we brought the leaves and pinecones back inside, we set them out at a free art center. Many of our students enjoyed strengthening their fine motor skills as they painted, glued, and created wonderful nature master pieces!Â
The Leaves are Falling Down!
We sang a simple little fall song this week. You might have heard your child singing it at home already! Here are the words in case you want to sing along:
The Leaves are Falling Down
The leaves are falling down,
the leaves are falling down.
Red, yellow, green and brown,
the leaves are falling down.
Singing the same song over and over encourages language development as children are more inclined to sing along to songs they are familiar with!
Every year Robina Baker School does a pretty cool fundraiser where our students create art work that you can order on a set of cards. This year we painted with marbles to make some pretty fun winter cards! The artwork will be sent off to the printer soon, and a proof will be sent home in a few weeks with ordering directions if you are interested in purchasing any cards.
On Wednesday and Thursday our students had the chance to strengthen their pincer grasp by painting fall trees. Any activity that requires students to use a pincer grasp helps develop pre-printing skills which are so important for learning to print one day!
Thank you to Lynn Perez for making a fresh batch of playdough for us this week! The students were thrilled for all of the exciting colours! Click here if you are interested in making playdough for our class.
