We've had a busy few beach themed weeks here in EIPK. From beach balls in the gym, to the very exciting beach day, to making boats, it's been all the summer fun!
Last week our four-year-olds strengthened their early numeracy skills by going on an ocean creature hunt and creating a bar graph. This activity was also great for vocabulary expansion as we learned new words like "orca whale" and "sea turtle."
Would it even be beach week without the book, Rainbow Fish? We enjoyed this story last week, then we opened up a painting center that involved the most unusual paintbrush... a piece of celery! Celery is curved, just like a scale, and it was the perfect tool for stamping fish scales to make rainbow fish of our own!
We had a boat making center open this week. Pool noodles, straws, and a little bit of fun foam easily come together to make the cutest boats! This station was such a hit that several of our students made more than one boat!
Beach day was so fun. We enjoyed setting up a couple of pretend beaches around the school. We used these beaches to enjoy a beach sing along and also to read a beach story! It was exciting to wear our beach clothes to school for the day.
We were so excited that our afternoon old class won a class ice cream party from the spell-a-thon! We enjoyed a special treat of ice cream sandwiches. Thank you to all of our families who supported this wonderful cause.
Family Conference Meetings Next Week
Don't forget! There is no EIPK next week as we will be running our family conference meetings. Each family is required to attend a family conference meeting to go through their child's Individualized Program Plan (IPP) or else English as an Additional Language Learner benchmarks. If you are unsure of what day and time you chose for you meeting please let me know!
These meetings will not be taking place in the classroom, and childcare is not available. If possible, I recommend not bringing your children to these meetings. Sometimes we have to discuss your children's challenges, and it is always best to do that without little listening ears in the room.
May 26th - 30th: No EIPK, Family meetings all week.
Please check your email for the sign up link!
