First off, I would like to take a minute to thank everyone for their patience and understanding as we shifted EIPK to a new schedule this past week to accommodate the support staff strike. We miss our valuable support staff very much in EIPK!
Even though the class sizes and composition looked different here in EIPK, I tried to keep our routines normal and we continued to enjoy our bear theme.
We enjoyed reading the book, Big Smelly Bear, and then got crafty making big smelly bears of our own! I mixed up two different kinds of smelly paint for the students to use: coffee paint and cinnamon paint. Cinnamon paint was by far the number one choice! However, we did have a handful of students drawn to the coffee paint as well.
In the gym we introduced a variety of ball skills. From rolling, to bouncing, to passing, everyone was busy strengthening their gross motor skills and hand-eye coordination!
It was fun to make and play with clean mud this past week. Some students were unsure of the texture, and others seemed to really enjoy the squishy fun! The recipe to make clean mud is so simple: one bar of soap - grated, one roll of toilet paper, and water. You simple put the soap and toilet paper in a container and then add small amounts of water at a time and stir! Once you have a texture you are happy with, you are done and ready to play!
Playful Learning Packages
I hope you are enjoying your playful learning packages. Thank you to the parents who have sent in pictures of their children having fun with their packages at home! Each week that we are engaged in modified programming, your child will be bringing home a new package for you to enjoy together.
Next week we will continue with our modified programming schedule. If you are unsure about what day your child is scheduled to attend school, please feel free to reach out!
