Walking in a Winter Wonderland!
We finished up our gingerbread theme this past week and celebrated winter in all of it's glory for the last few days of school. The energy level was running high in our classroom, as everyone was getting excited for winter break and we were cooped up inside because of the cold weather!
Our four year olds were excited to have their turn at making gingerbread men on Tuesday. We were all so relieved that none of our gingerbread men ran away! We also practiced our scissors skills while we cut and glued gingerbread men onto paper baking sheets.
We opened a very messy, yet very fun painting center this past week: dripping ice painting. This activity challenged students to strengthen their hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills as they used pipettes to drip watered down paint onto paper. The end result was so beautiful!
Some of our students participated in the Robina Baker crazy hair day on Wednesday.
We worked to follow directions and strengthen our receptive language skills while building a snowman snack during our winter party on Thursday. This activity was also a true test of impulse control, working with mini donuts and not eating them until the end was very challenging!
On Thursday we did a snowstorm science experiment. This activity was the perfect opportunity to practice our "s" sound while trying to recreate a snowstorm in a jar! The end result was very exciting.
Wearing your pajamas to school is so exciting, everyone looked so cute and cozy during our party on Thursday!
Thank you to all of our families who braved the cold weather to come out to our family sing along and cookie decorating evening. I think it's safe to say that the students have a fun time! Mr. Coffin took so many great pictures for us, but unfortunately we are struggling to get them uploaded from the school camera. Stay tuned! Hopefully we will have pictures to share in the New Year.
