We started our superhero theme this past week, and oh boy, has it ever been an exciting one! The previous week was short, but we managed to pack in a very quick theme on Earth Day.
After singing a few songs about the Earth and watching a short video on saving our planet, we opened a few different Earth Day centers. One involved saving the ocean animals by carefully removing all the litter from the ocean. Another center was recycle painting. This center allowed students to get creative while also teaching them about the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling!
Last Friday our three-year-olds used coffee filters, markers, and spray bottles to create the Earth. This week, our four-year-olds used paper plates, paint, and plastic wrap. Both activities allowed our students the opportunity to strengthen those important fine motor skills!
On Tuesday we challenged our four-year-olds to find the superheroes that had escaped around our school. This exciting scavenger hunt style activity was a great opportunity to expand our student's vocabularies while also practicing their speech and language skills.
On Wednesday we had a superhero mask making station available. Because let's be honest here, are you even a superhero without a mask??
And of course, we had to have a dress like a superhero day! This was a very busy and fun filled day. We looked so cool that we had take a little tour around the school to show off our costumes!
