English Language Arts Projects and Lessons
Identify high frequency prefixes and suffixes to read words in context: 2.1.9
Students will use the provided template to discover and attach words with the teacher given prefix. Template can easily be adapted to be a suffix template.

Students will view a short story as an example and then build their understanding of synonyms through a creative activity.

Students will use the word of the week template to develop an understanding of a selected word while filling in additional information so they may continue to build their vocabulary.
Identify the main characteristics of familiar media and media texts: 2.3.2
Students will use the provided template to study the elements of the novel genre and find examples of these characteristics within the text of a novel that they are studying. This can be used in a novel study where students select their own novels or as a full class study.
Identify sections or elements in print or other media texts: 2.3.6
Students will use the supplied templates to study and guide their use of elements of media in order draw attention to the subject and inform their audience in an engaging fashion.
Identify irregular verbs and use in own writing: 4.2.3
Identify past, present and future verb tenses, and use in sentences: 4.2.4
Students will use the Google Slides template to learn about verb tenses and to explore irregular verbs. They will show their knowledge through a number of exercises and teachers them how to document their analog work by using a webcam to insert pictures of their work into their digital journal and resize and crop their images.
Cereal Box Writing - Students use a cereal box as a mentor text and design their own cereal box.
Poetry Study Unit: Students are guided through this unit to discover characteristics of the genre and to experiment with language the enhance their understanding.
