In my role as the Elementary School Counselor, I am happy to serve ALL students, K-5 at Amy Belle.
I provide a comprehensive school counseling program through classroom education, prevention and intervention.
Classroom lessons: focus on developing strong learner behaviors, empathy, emotional regulation, problem solving skills, career exploration and protective behaviors.
Individual counseling and small-group counseling: I help eliminate barriers to social and academic development. Individual and small-group counseling could include topics such as anxiety, social skills, attending, organizational skills, family changes, and emotional regulation.
In addition to classroom instruction and direct service delivery, I also promote success for today's diverse students by helping staff stay abreast of best practices with self-management and understanding behavior challenges. I strongly believe that challenging behaviors are a form of communication and always have a reason or several reasons behind the behavior. We try to work as a team to find more positive ways for children to communicate their needs and regulate their emotions. It is a pleasure working with a strong team of committed educators at Amy Belle.
As the School Counselor, I strive to provide a safe and caring learning environment for all of our children during this important developmental period. It is a privilege to have this opportunity to care about your kids!
