SAMBHAAV -

It is all about empowering students to build entrepreneurial skills, associate with NGOs like Sewa Bharti and Helpage India for helping special children and adults and support underprivileged to raise their level to greater heights by using their potential by helping them to take care of themselves. SAMBHAAV Enterprises is also the school's initiative to take care of the three Ps- People, Planet & Profit. The Profit earned is being utilized for helping the underprivileged and special children and diversifying our business at the same time. As a part of this challenge students had to do resource analysis of the school, its nearby locality and start up with a business idea.

GOOD EARTH PROJECT-

Eco Awareness Club has been formed in the school. It is an effort to sensitize students towards the protection and care of environment. In association with organisations like TDPPL, GLOBE, TERI, NCT Bhagidari activities on garbage management, water and air pollution testing, energy conservation etc. are conducted. The school uses a solar inverter, a paper recycling unit for eco paper making & a rolly polly machine for composting garbage. Students are also sensitized time to time through talks, competitions, pledges to use water and electricity judiciously as well as to minimise the use of polythene. To further teach students respect for their environment and be responsible citizens, the school assigns House Projects to House & each House is responsible to promote and sensitize students related to that activity. Students share the responsibility by working on projects like Go Green, Garbage Management, Save Water, Save Energy, Say No to Polythene, Foil Collection etc.

Eco - enzymes project

Sambhaav Eco Enzymes have been the most in demand product of our business last year and so our team decided to organize our Launch Event for this year by launching this useful Product. The first lot of Eco enzymes was initiated in the month of April. Our young entrepreneurs collected the kitchen waste brought by the students as well as from the canteen and stored them in large containers in an isolated room. Jaggery was then added to the containers and the mixture was stirred from time to time. Since it takes 3 months for the product to be ready, the mixture was strained by the students in July, just before the launch event and packed in reused PET bottles.

organic farming

Organic farming is a technique, which involves cultivation of plants in natural ways. This process completely forbids the use of synthetic inputs such as petrochemical fertilizers and pesticides. The students themselves, under the guidance of Mr. Sunil (professional agriculturist) and Ms. Monica, sowed the seeds of different plants such as tomato, bitter guard, brinjal and many more and are taking care of these germinating seeds following the rules of organic farming.

Handmade Paper

recycled paper out of the waste and discarded newspapers. it was cut it into a defined shape and using fabric paints we printed beautiful patterns and made coasters out of it to sell them as a part of the Sambhaav sale. By reusing the waste newspapers we are taking a step towards conserving the environment and natural resources thus justifying our 3P's motto - People, Planet and Profit.

How The Entrepreneurial Adventure Has Allowed Us to Make a Difference in the World

We are saving money for the WE Charity. WE Charity is a charity that wants to stop poverty and child labor! WE Charity has 5 different pillars: water, food, opportunities, health and education. For more information go to: www.wecharity.org/about-we-charity/.

We have set up a shop in our School, St. Clare. The things we have for sale are; mechanical pencils, water bottles, wrist bands, drawstring bags as well as Hoodies and T-shirt's. These are on sale for a limited time only. We would appreciate if you would buy our products so we can donate to the WE Charity. You are buying the products to help us raise money for the We Charity and to stop child slavery around the world.

The Entrepreneurial Adventure (EA) is a Program that was created to give children an understanding of a business and to support a charity. In EA we have an employee of RBC Bank to help us. He comes in every few weeks to help us and tell us more about running a business. There are 5 teams and a board of directors; those five teams are accounting, marketing, digital marketing, purchasing and selling team.

There are 20 people per team except selling, everyone will sell products. These five teams and the board are all working for a non-profit company that will donate all money earned to a charity (in this case it is WE charity). The accounting team keeps track of profit, marketing helps to advertise our business to the school, digital marketing helps advertise online, the purchasing team decides what our company purchases and the selling team sells. The board is comprised of the secretary, the CFO, the COO and the CEO.

Our purchasing team decided to sell St. Clare merchandise, we are selling bracelets, magnets, bottles, drawstring bags and spirit wear. Digital marketing created the logo for “merch” and a name for it, we are the St.Clare Champions. We will now start selling, I hope this gave some insight to what is The Entrepreneurial Adventure Program.

How We Have Helped People Our Own Community

Angel Tree / Adopt-a-Family

This Christmas season, in conjunction with the St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Clare has adopted 11 families in need from neighbouring communities. This is an annual event and one that brings much joy to all involved. In an effort to assist these families, we wish to create gift and food hampers for them. School Council will have an Angel Tree set up in the foyer of the school beginning Thursday, November 29, in time for Parent Teacher conferences. We are asking for those of you who are able, to take an angel tag off the tree, purchase the gift that is needed for that particular family, and return the gift (unwrapped please) with the tag no later than December 10th. You may return the gift with your child or bring it to the office. Thank you so much!

If you would like to give the gift of time, to help us with this worthy cause, we will need many volunteers to organize the hampers and then deliver them to the families. We will be assembling the hampers Tuesday, December 11th and delivering them Friday, December 15.

We are thrilled to have any time you can offer! Please join us in any way you can, as this is a wonderful way to not only help others, but to teach our children the joy of giving. Thank you for your continued support and may God bless each and every one of you during this season and throughout the year!

-Cheryl Kielly, School Council Chair
