Goal 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
While the world has achieved progress towards gender equality and women’s empowerment under the Millennium Development Goals (including equal access to primary education between girls and boys), women and girls continue to suffer discrimination and violence in every part of the world.
Gender equality is not only a fundamental human right, but a necessary foundation for a peaceful, prosperous and sustainable world.
Providing women and girls with equal access to education, health care, decent work, and representation in political and economic decision-making processes will fuel sustainable economies and benefit societies and humanity at large.

- India has achieved gender parity at the primary education level and is on track to achieve parity at all education levels, as of August 2015, the proportion of seats in Parliament held by women had only reached 12% against the target of 50%.
- India is facing the problem regarging the women who are being sexually harassed in public.92% of women in India had experienced some form of sexual violence in public spaces during their lifetime.
- The Government of India has identified ending violence against women as a key national priority, which resonates with the Sustainable Development targets of the United Nations on gender equality.
- The prime minister’s Beti Bachao Beti Padhao programme intiate towards girl educations and self defence training in every school.
- In addition, the govenrment is putting special emphasis on female employement and to empower adolscent girls, the Sukanya Samridhi Yojana on girls child empowerment The Janani Suraksha for mother to take oath regarding gender equality and the targets of goal 4.

- giving national level exams and olympiads
- Participating in major tennis AND archery competitions
Wunshan Senior High School emphasizes on gender equality in general. Since our government has explained our constitution that same-sex marriage is permitted. We have been the most advance country in gender equality in Asia.
