Our DNA

Did you know that DNA stands for Deoxyribonucleic acid? DNA holds all the information about how a living thing looks and functions.

DID YOU KNOW…

  • DNA stands for deoxyribonucleic acid.
  • DNA holds all the information about how a living thing looks and functions.
  • It is in the cell of every living thing.
  • DNA can determine our eye color, hair color and our skin color, also everything in our body is determined by our DNA/genes.
  • Every piece of DNA holds a different piece of info! Each piece is called “genes”.
  • DNA also helps the body function properly and reproduce!
  • It is a long molecule in the nucleotides.
  • Inside the nucleotides, there is the adenine, thymine, cytosine and guanine.
  • Your DNA can’t change so it's unchangeable.

Skin Mural

We are all different in our own little way. It doesn’t matter what your skin colour is, what your beliefs are or where you live. No matter what you look like, what you think is good and what is bad or how you get up in the morning, you are special.

Your skin colour is determined by your DNA and defines you as well as who you are. Though this doesn’t mean that it defines everything about you. Do not let anyone change who you are. If you like something, do not let anyone change your opinion. If you don’t like something, same thing, be how you want to be because there will never be another you on this planet. You are You.

Your D.N.A. defines you. It decides what color your eyes are, your hair, your facial features, and many more. This is a face collage of students in GVC from Abraham Lincoln School. We took photos of people and edited their face to only show their eyes, hair, face, etc...
