Reiki is a gentle energy-based practice that invites deep relaxation and a greater sense of balance and well-being. During a session, you remain fully clothed while resting comfortably as Reiki is offered through gentle touch or with the practitioner's hands held just above the body.
Many people experience Reiki as a peaceful opportunity to slow down, quiet the mind, and reconnect with themselves. Your experience may be different each time, and there is no particular way you're supposed to feel or respond.
Reiki is a complementary wellness practice and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or cure medical conditions.
No two Reiki sessions are exactly alike. Each practitioner has their own way of working, and each person brings a unique energy and experience to the session. As you settle in, your energy field and your practitioner's field come together, creating a dynamic experience that can unfold differently from one session to the next.
You will remain fully clothed and comfortably resting while Reiki is offered through gentle touch or with the practitioner's hands held just above the body. Your practitioner may notice different sensations, areas of energy, or shifts throughout the session and may intuitively allow the experience to unfold from there.
This means a session with Jess may feel different from a session with Maureen — and that's part of what makes Reiki personal. Neither approach is better or more "correct." We each bring our own presence, intuition, and way of working to the experience.
Before your session begins, your practitioner will talk you through what to expect and discuss the flow of your experience, creating a comfortable, peaceful space for you to receive the healing and restorative energy of Reiki.
Everyone's experience is different. You may notice warmth, coolness, tingling, a sense of lightness, deep relaxation, or simply a quiet sense of being still. You may also experience very little sensation at all. There is no right or wrong way to experience Reiki.
No particular belief system is required. You don't need to have experience with Reiki or understand exactly how it works to receive the experience.
Reiki sessions are designed to create a quiet, restorative space where you can slow down, settle your attention, and allow your body and mind to move toward a more relaxed state. When we're under stress, the nervous system can become oriented toward the sympathetic "fight-or-flight" response. Practices that encourage relaxation can support the body's natural relaxation response and a shift toward the parasympathetic state — often referred to as "rest and digest."
You don't have to make anything happen or experience Reiki a certain way. Simply come with an open mind and allow yourself the opportunity to slow down, receive, and reconnect with yourself.
