When a community grows together, children thrive.
The toddler program is designed for children 12 months and walking to 2 years.
Parents must provide diapers, wipes, and 2 changes of clothes for their child.
When parents are ready for their child to potty train, the teacher and parents will develop a plan together. Parents must provide extra clothing (and pull-ups, which are discouraged, but allowed if discussed with the teacher first). KDHE regulations require that to prevent the spread of germs, soiled clothing is not rinsed, just bagged and sent home each day.
Children will be given age-appropriate meals and snacks as part of our food program.
Children will have at least 60 min. daily active play (gross motor skills) time outdoors on the playground. Please be sure to provide appropriate shoes with Velcro closures and seasonal clothing. Fresh air and sunshine are just as important for health as hydration and nutrition.
Children will have rest time every afternoon on cots provided by the Center. Children should bring their own blanket from home, which will be sent home to be washed weekly. They may also bring a small travel size pillow and a stuffy if they wish, but these items are to remain in their cubbies for use only during rest time. If the child does not fall asleep within 20 minutes of laying down, they will be allowed to do quiet activities until rest time is over.
Children will only be allowed a bottle at nap time, and only for the first 2 weeks after transitioning to this room. We highly encourage pacifiers to only be used at nap time as well.
Sippy cups will be provided as needed until transitioned to a regular cup.
Each child needs to bring a water bottle labeled with their name which can be left at the Center.
Parents will receive daily reports on Brightwheel about meals, sleep patterns, activities, etc.
They will be involved in a research-based curriculum with engaging activities to promote social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.
