• Used to be your teacher could just tell you to only trust the .orgs or the .edus and send you on your merry way. I will still tell you that preferred sites usually are:

  • • • .edu

      • .gov

      • .org (with caution)

      • .com under certain circumstances

  • More important to deciding what site to use is whether you can answer these questions:

    • What is the connection between the source of information and the topic?

      • Do they have a direct connection?

      • Is the author or organization an expert on this subject?

      • Are they trying to convince you of something? Do they have an agenda?

    • Who is the intended audience of this information?

    • What is the purpose of this organization or website? Is this informational or opinion based?

    • How do they support their evidence? Does it agree or disagree with other reliable sources?
